This policy explains what personal data CheckeSIMRates collects when you use checkesimrates.com, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have.

Who we are

This website is operated by Edgars Pless, a private individual, under the name CheckeSIMRates (“we”, “us”). We decide how and why the personal data described here is processed. You can contact us about privacy at hello@checkesimrates.com.

The short version

What we collect and why

Usage statistics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4, set up through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to measure which pages are visited and how the site is used. Google Analytics only loads if you click “Accept” in the cookie banner; until then, nothing is sent to Google. Once you accept, it records information such as the pages you view, the site that referred you, your device and browser type, your approximate location and interactions such as clicks, and Google sets cookies to tell visits apart (see “Cookies and browser storage” below). We use this to learn which pages help visitors and to fix what doesn’t work. Legal basis: your consent. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

Server logs

Like any website, our hosting provider’s servers automatically record technical details of each request: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, the referring page and your browser’s user agent. These logs are used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose errors, and are kept only for a limited period. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you include and the content of your message. We use them to reply and to act on what you report, and keep them only as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you ask us to take.

Clicks to eSIM providers

When you follow a link to a provider, you leave our site. Some links pass through affiliate networks (such as Awin and Impact) or include a referral code, so the provider can record that you came from CheckeSIMRates and whether you bought a plan, and pay us a commission. These companies may set their own cookies and process your data under their own privacy policies. We don’t receive your payment details.

Images from other servers

Some images, such as country flags (from flagcdn.com) and photographs on the homepage (from Unsplash), are loaded from other servers. To show them, your browser connects to those servers, which receive your IP address and browser details.

Cookies and browser storage

To change your choice, use “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. To stop Google Analytics on every website, you can install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only with companies that help us run the site, and only as described above:

We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We don’t sell personal data.

International transfers

Some of these companies, Google in particular, may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep data

Google Analytics keeps event-level data for the retention period set in our Analytics account, at most 14 months. Server logs and emails are kept as described above, then deleted.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, you have the right to:

To use these rights, email hello@checkesimrates.com. We may need to ask for information to confirm your identity. You can also complain to the data-protection authority in the country where you live or work.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
